Host an Activity
Our activity partners make Open Streets Macon one of the most unique programs in Macon-Bibb County. Apply today to host an activity along the route. Your activity must align in some way to our mission. The four pillars of Open Streets Macon are health, transportation options, living streets, and civic pride. Please note: no vending is allowed.
The best activities are those that creatively represent your business or organization, while involving event participants. For example, a gym might host workouts or fitness challenges. A dance group could give short lessons. A clothing store may put on a fashion show. Last year, a local book shop hosted children’s story time and a library registered participants for library cards! Sometimes activity partners are just individuals who want to share their passion for an activity, such as slacklining or hula hooping.

Who can be an Activity Partner?
Activity Partners can be agencies, organizations, businesses, clubs, individuals, government agencies or anyone else that has the capacity to provide an activity on the Open Streets route. Keep in mind that all programs should be barrier-free, accessible, and free.
What activities are provided in an Activity Hub of complementary programming?
There are a variety of activities that can be provided in a Hub at an Open Streets program. At a Healthiest Practice Open Streets program the activities are free and should be focused on health – meaning the activities focus on encouraging physical activity, offering educational advice in health areas such as nutrition, healthy weight maintenance, or chronic disease prevention.
Keeping the activities in a hub as simplistic as possible also requires less time for set-up and take-down. Don’t underestimate the power of some music, skipping ropes, and hula-hoops.
Do I need to pay?
Activity partners do not need to pay to be on the route, but they may be subject to a cancellation or no-show fee.
Do I get to pick my location on the route?
Our activity partners are assigned a location.
Do I get a social media shout-out?
All of our activity partners get mentioned on social media.
Do I get on a map?
We will list all of our activity partners on a map.
Is there a vendor application for the event?
The emphasis of Open Streets Macon is activity, and activity partners are discouraged from selling goods or providing paid services along the route. The lack of street vending, and support for local businesses, is part of what sets OSM apart. If you are a vendor, you may take this opportunity to set up a fun activity and make contacts. But please do not vend. Please note: businesses that are located on the route are allowed to sell as usual.
Will you provide power?
Unfortunately we are unable to provide power to activity partners. If your activity requires electricity we encourage you to reach out to businesses along the route ahead of time to see if you will be able to use their power. If your activity needs to be set up near a specific business because you already have the business owner’s permission to use their power, please note it in the application.
Where will water and restrooms be located?
Port-a-potties and water stations are spread out along the route. Each activity hub will have toilets and water stations.
All Activity Partners must abide by the rules below:
• Activities must be participatory (not just a table with postcards and signup sheet)
• Participatory can mean different things. Be creative. We love to hear your ideas.
• All nonprofits, businesses, and organizations are allowed to participate (even if their office isn’t along the route) as long as the activity they bring is relevant to active, healthy living or community engagement.
• No vending is allowed except for businesses on the route, except with permission provided by Open Streets Macon organizers. Please reach out to email@example.com to place a request.
